Jazmin is a native San Diegan who loves the beach, her family, and the fur babies. She received her degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, combining her passion for science and animals. Jazmin has work experience from several research institutions in the biomedical hub of La Jolla, such as The Scripps Research Institute, The Salk Institute, and The Burnham Institute. Jazmin joined the team at UC San Diego in May of 2012.
Jazmin’s primary focus is the management of the transgenic mouse models and all in-vivo related projects/designs. She is responsible for writing and maintaining the Animal Use Protocol, and insuring compliance with all IACUC and animal welfare regulations. With the help of the team, Jazmin is also responsible for coordinating, running, and analyzing data from all behavioral experiments. As part of her duties and contributions to the lab, Jazmin independently performs both terminal and survival animal surgical procedures. Surgical procedures include trans-cardiac perfusion, cryo-presevation, and intra-cerebral injections to name a few.
